Each country in the world is putting efforts to vitalize economy using its own traditional foods to enhance the image of country and expand the export of ingredients produced in the country with franchised food industry. Global citizens show increasing interest in Korean foods thanks to the Korean Wave.

Thus, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has established a Korean Food Globalization Project under the goal to develop Korean food culture as a product of the high national image and nurture it as new growth engine industry.

 

 

Korean Food Globalization Project will be progressed as follows.

 

 

Select ten representative items and localize them to each country. Standardize and commercialize traditional food recipes. Develop ingredients. Develop traditional food contents such as royal cuisine.

 

 
 

Support overseas Korean restaurants to increase competitive power that are inferior to western restaurants. Provide consultation about interior design, ingredients, and management.  Support restaurant owners and chefs to get trained for a certain period of time in professional training institutes in Korea.

 

 
 

Establish online and offline network in each country after investigating the actual conditions of overseas Korean restaurants. Nurture one or two Korea restaurants in main cities as a model case and implement a national certification system for outstanding Korean restaurants.

 

 
 

Support diverse Korean food experience programs for foreigners. Produce various promotion videos such as commercial films or documentaries and broadcast them throughout the world television stations. Strengthen promotion activities for excellent Korean food culture.
